Happy Spring!

Spring has arrived – thought it would never arrive.  The sun is out, the mud is here, and April is just around the corner.

The renovations continue…the mudroom is done, just need to clean it up and put it back together!!!  Laundry room is halfway there….  Oh well!

The sisters arrive tomorrow so today is the day to give my house an enema and try to de-crap it!

I’ll be away for the week so that’ll be one less blog for you to check in on.  Hey, I’m doing my part to help you simplify, you can thank me later.  Just be sure to come back next week – it’s only a temporary break okay?

Still have to sew one more purse today so that each sister gets a new bag, including me!

Have a great week, I hope you get to enjoy some time for yourself too.

shelf love

I am in love.  With my new shelves.  How can you NOT love them, just look at them.  Aren’t they great?  It’s like they were meant to be there.  I can hardly wait to finish the trim and edging in there so I can fill those happy little shelves with all kinds of clutter!  My kitchen island will be so happy when it’s no longer the dumping ground for all papers brought into this home.

The laundry room/bathroom re-do has begun.  Here’s a little progression for ya!

Too bad I didn’t get a true before for you like the kitchen picture.  This had a lovely outhouses border at the top of the green paper.  I have scraped and scraped and now last night the first skim coat was put on.  The bottom half will be bead board.  I painted the medicine cabinet one day out of boredom, not sure it will stay that way.  Also thinking about painting the ceiling but still not sure.  It’s coming together, slowly but surely.

T-minus 6 days until my sisters arrive!

still here, just wicked busy

Knee-deep in renovating the mud room and the laundry room, a surprise I really hope my husband likes when he returns from Afghanistan.  Shhhhhhh!

Of course nothing puts the fire under you to renovate like upcoming house guests!  Both my sisters are flying in for a little fun in muddy Maine time at the end of the month.  Do they care that my mudroom (used to) look like shite?  No, not really.  But I do.  The mudroom and the laundry room are the last two rooms downstairs that still bare the former owners style.  Or lack there of.

Take a peek at what I’ve been up to:

Nice and sunny isn’t it?  Impossible to not be happy in this mudroom.  Before, very understandable if one was a bit cross or ugly BUT NOW, no excuse!  Notice the little nook that wasn’t being used before for anything but storing buckets of mud?  I’m now filling it with shelves for all that paperwork that currently finds itself adhering to my kitchen island.

Tonight I’ll be putting another coat of trim paint on.  Can you believe the blueberry trim that was in there?  That was also the trim in my kitchen before too.  Dark and dreary!  Let me see if I can find you a before pic…

Isn’t that nice?  It’s really too bad that I don’t have a shot of what’s behind me, there’s a lot of wood work and it’s all that dark, dark blue.

Here’s an idea of what I’ve done with it.

cimg31811 Still a lot to do but at least it’s bright and cheery now!

dscn0918 Here’s the wall now, imagine all that wood DARK BLUE!

Now I just have to finish the trim and the edging in the mudroom and put all the shelves up and then it’s on to the laundry room!

What about you, what have you been doing with your spring feverishness?
