how does your garden grow?

After what seems like an endless supply of rain to the Northeast, the sun has come out to play!  I have many things in mind for the sun to do for me today -

  1. shine like the top of the Chrysler Building
  2. warm my garden so the tomatoes will ripen
  3. dry out my cellar
  4. brighten my mood
  5. brighten my mood
  6. did I mention, brighten my mood?

My hat is off to those that can survive in the Pacific Northwest, all that rain, the counselors/psychiatrists/LCSW’s/and psychologists must have a racket going there!  I need to see the sun for good mental health!

The garden is very green and very wet.  My friend Holly (Hi Holly!), asked for an update on the garden and some pictures.  Ask – and I shall deliver!

Here’s how it’s looking from the slugs eye-view:

The cukes are delivering, as is the yellow squash.  The zucchini has decided to take a break – and I’m not sure why.  The tomatoes are just waiting on the vine for some warm sun to turn them into red & juicy deliciousness.  The broccoli is still producing, the cauliflower has finally arrived.  The brussel sprouts are sprouting and the lettuce has decided it’s finished.  The pumpkin vine is taking over, competing for 1st place with the butternut squash.  The sunflowers are getting ready to grace us with their beautiful sunny faces, and the corn is bulking up slowly but surely.  The carrots and onions still need some time and the peppers seem to have succumb to the wetness.

off to weed…

Gorgeous garden, hope the sun helps brighten your mood! Oh, don’t feel too bad about your zucchini, mine is done for the season I suspect. And just when I really starting craving it too.
